Bruce Nussbaum

Bruce Nussbaum is an Assistant Managing Editor for BusinessWeek, responsible for coverage of design and innovation. He was previously editorial page editor. He is an essayist and commentator on economic and social issues. Mr. Nussbaum edits the magazine's weekly Economic Viewpoint column and also writes frequently on design. He analyzes the annual Industrial Designers Excellence Awards and the BusinessWeek/Architectural Record AIA Awards for the magazine.
Mr. Nussbaum joined BusinessWeek in 1977 and has written for a number of sections including international finance. He was head of the foreign news section, covering international finance, international business and technological change. In 1985, he left BusinessWeek to become executive editor of Manhattan, Inc, and returned to BusinessWeek in 1986 as senior writer. Prior to joining BusinessWeek, Mr. Nussbaum was a reporter for the Far Eastern Economic Review in Asia and The American Banker in New York.
Mr. Nussbaum is the author of two books: The World after Oil: the Shifting Axis of Power and Wealth and Good Intentions, an inside look at medical research on AIDS. He is a published essayist and the recipient of awards from the Sigma Delta Chi Journalism Society, the Overseas Press Club, the West Point Society, and the Hofstra University's School of Business. He has received the Bronze Apple and Personal Recognition Award from the Industrial Designers Society of America.
Bruce Nussbaum holds a B.A. in political science from Brooklyn College and an M.A. in political science from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines.
